UGC NET Posts and Their Differences

1. Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)

  • Candidates who qualify for JRF can apply for both the positions of Assistant Professor and Research Scholar.
  • Stipend: JRF candidates receive a stipend for conducting research. They are paid:
    • ₹35,000 per month for the first 2 years
    • ₹42,000 per month from the 3rd year onwards.
  • JRF-qualified candidates can work as research scholars in their chosen field while also being eligible to apply for Assistant Professor positions.

2. Assistant Professor

  • Candidates who qualify for Assistant Professor eligibility can apply for teaching positions in universities and colleges.
  • PhD Option: These candidates can also pursue a PhD. However, they will not receive a stipend from the government during their PhD program.
