IIFA 2024 showcased Bollywood stars performances, heartfelt moments, and how cinema helps people across the world to unite. Organized with glamour, the night celebrated the best of Indian cinema in the various categories, giving fans and the film fraternity a night to relish. Below are the following views of the results of this event, specifying cutouts of moments that are particularly worthy of attention.
Venue and Setting
The year’s IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) Awards brought a spirited year-end celebration of Indian movie… talent in Abu Dhabi. The most celebrated Bollywood personalities were present during this elite and glamorous evening, and they all looked their best. The anchors for the night, Shah Rukh Khan and Vicky Kaushal, maintained the tempo and added comedy and social interactions along with a couple of dance numbers.
The Big Winners
The best performance of the night came from Shah Rukh Khan, who won the Best Actor award for the much-appreciated Jawan. The actor, who is famous for having an excellent screen presence, yet again managed to impress the audience with this full-on action flick. He gave a very moving acceptance speech that brought much appreciation to the cast and crew and his fans, yet it had the audience in stitches. He came on to the stage to dance to steps with singer Shilpa Rao, who won the Best Playback Singer (Female) award for the song Chaleya from Jawan.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga received the big prize of the evening, the Best Film Award, for Animal. This movie, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, met expectations and even exceeded them. Additionally, it garnered several other awards, with Anil Kapoor winning the Best Supporting Actor award and Bobby Deol taking home the Best Actor in a Negative Role award.
If someone wants firsthand information about Aishwarya Rai’s emotional moment, they should read the second article. A touching scene from the night occurred when the glamour icon, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan—the current face of Indian cinema—embraced one of the young hosts, who teared up after shaking her hand. Rai attended the event to collect her Best Actress (Tamil) award for the film Ponniyin Selvan II. She looked dignified and warm, as expected from one of Bollywood’s most elegantly crafted icons.
Tribute to Veteran Stars
It also saluted the legends of the Indian cinema industry according to the desires of the many attending guests. The very famous Indian actress from the 1970s, who was also known as Bollywood ‘Dream Girl,’ Hema Malini, received the award for the outstanding achievement in Indian cinema.
In a touching incident, Amir Khan, whom she gave a break to in Dil Aashna Hai, accompanied her to the stage. She was virtually beaming with pride to narrate to me how she had been instrumental in weeding through the so-called external intrusions into the Indian cinematic arena and how the younger generation has been adulating her work. She also narrated several incidents about how many young men from her constituency, Mathura, run to her for help for becoming as successful as Shah Rukh Khan. Popular director Vidhu Vinod Chopra clinched the Best Director for the movie 12th Fail at the Indian Film Awards. During his acceptance speech, he called for unity in trying to address issues such as climate change and global conflicts.
Sing and Dance Shows
Any Bollywood-based event would remain incomplete without some scintillating performances, and so was the IIFA 2024. Rekha, the evergreen Siren of the Indian screen, enthralled hundreds of fans with her 20-minute non-stop performance of well-known numbers of her movies Mr. Natwarlal and Guide, namely Pardesiya and Piya Tose. She was received well by receptionists with props and hundreds of other dancers from around the world applauding her great steps. Vicky Kaushal and Shah Rukh Khan also got into some dapper moves on the floor. In one of the evening’s lighter moments, the duo recreated the chartbuster Oo Antava from Pushpa: The Rise, to the delight of the audience.
The Fun and Laughter
Other than appreciation, there was much laughter in the night, especially from the humour in the man’s tongue, Shah Rukh Khan. During the awards, Kaushal teasingly asked the superstar where he was when movies like Avengers, Jurassic Park or Spiderman were being made? Shah Rukh replied with wit, saying that he did not act in Avengers because the infinity stone was with Salman Khan and he hasn’t managed to borrow it yet. He took the liberty of joking that if he decided to don the Spider-Man mask, unfortunately, nobody would be able to notice his dimples; as for Jurassic Park, he found it difficult to imagine how he would wake up one morning and decide to say to a dinosaur, Palat Palat.
Other Big Wins
Other gaid winners of thenight included Shabana Azmi for the Best supporting Actress award for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani a film based on a story, screenplay and direction done by Karan Johar of Dharma productions. Her acceptance speech delivered during the documentary of Azmi exploring the golden jubilee of her cinematic journey was a moving account. For longevity, she was grateful and said it started with her first film Ankur in 1974. The Best Music Direction award went to Pritam along with Vishal Mishra and others for the film Animal While Bhupinder Babbal got the Best Playback Singer (Male) for ‘Arjan Vailly’. But with the song Satranga he also got an award of Best Lyrics for writing the track.
